Event information

In cooperation with Metropolis Kino Hamburg, we will show the film Pepe (2024) by Nelson Carlos De Los Santos Arias, followed by a short Q&A with the documentary and feature film director Nelson Carlos De Los Santos Arias.

Three hippos are taken from South West Africa to Colombia, then abandoned after their master’s death. They survive, and Pepe is born. His brother kills the father and becomes the patriarch. Pepe confronts him, loses and is banished. In the Magdalena River, he discovers the “two-legged”. He has strange encounters with them — a shadow, a drifting log, an entity from beyond. His ghost tells the story, serious and playful, of beings who died without ever knowing where they were.

The admission fee for the film screening is 9 EUR for regular tickets and 6 EUR for discounted tickets.
