Event information

In this workshop, participants collaborate to create a collective publication that explores some of life’s most complex questions. Together, they tackle topics like what "sacred" means in the Western world or what thoughts come to mind while waiting at a bus stop. Each participant is randomly assigned a question and encouraged to respond freely. The resulting answers are then compiled, edited, and published as part of the "Lecture Notes" series by Gótico Tropical Books.

The workshop is open to anyone aged 18 and above, with a maximum of 15 participants. No prior experience is necessary, only a willingness to write and engage. Participants are asked to bring drawing materials and are welcome to propose their own existential questions that keep them up at night for group discussion (if they are willing to share).

Short biography

Laura Gómez, artist and co-founder of the experimental editorial press Gótico Tropical Books, studied Fine Arts in the National University of Colombia and the HFBK Hamburg. She works between image making, writing, archival and editorial work, and research. Thematically, her work is drawn to exploring cultural dislocation and mobility, finding inspiration in the peculiarities and tensions within the mundane, everyday experience. Her practice examines outsider perspectives and a fragmented sense of identity in an increasingly globalized world.
